Spectrum Technical Institute (Spectrum) was found in April, 1995, and began our program operations in January, 1997.
To date, programs & services have included the following:
Description of Services/Programs
Project M/PACT (Mentors, Proteges and Career Technology Training)- A mentor, career and cultural exposures program bringing mentors and their youth participants(proteges) together for positive role modeling experiences, as well as providing seminars and field trips focusing on high technology, social/professional etiquette, family responsibility, prevention, career development and various cultural experiences for the youth. This is our "flagship" program. This program serves 17 and under.
Computer Technology Training- A program that provides computer training in the areas of operations, software applications (Microsoft Personal & Professional Software) and basic troubleshooting, along with related education areas ( life skills & job readiness) in an effort to prepare the total person for career success. This training program prepares the participant for their MOS (Microsoft Office Specialist) Certification & greater employment opportunities. This program serves 17 and older.
Audio-Video Productions Training-A program that provides audio & video training the areas of pre-production: overview & theory, video basics, technical equipment operation, organizing & scripting and other introductory areas; production: camera operation, lighting, sound and directing, as well as computer hardware/software applications and post production: editing of audio & video media, secreening and delivery. Life skills and job readiness training is also a part of this course. This program serves 18 and older.
Job Placement Referral Service- This service matches qualified participants to job openings as requested by employers. Services include resume preparation assistance for referred applicants, as necessary. This service is coordinated through linkages with other community agencies.***
Supportive Services Assistance- Referral of clients to organizations offering medical, dental, housing, clothing, food, counseling (individual & family) and other health and human services that are outside the scope of Spectrum. Limited direct services for housing and utilities assistance.
Career Information & Referral- This service refers clients to employment/career training in specified areas: GED Prep, Continuing Education and Career Education/Preparation services.
